Infinis

Together building over 110 MWp of Large-Scale Solar Capacity to support UK Energy Transition

THE COMPANY

Infinis, Driving the Energy Transition with Large Scale Solar

Infinis is a UK renewable energy company focused on developing, generating and supplying lower-carbon energy. The company has extensive experience in the development and operation of renewable energy infrastructure, including solar generation, battery energy storage and flexible power assets.

As the UK works towards a cleaner, more secure and increasingly flexible electricity system, Infinis is expanding its solar portfolio and bringing forward new renewable generation capacity across the country.

Central to this strategy is the development of large scale solar parks capable of supplying significant volumes of domestically generated renewable electricity to the national grid. These projects support the decarbonisation of the UK power system while providing long-term benefits for local communities and the surrounding environment.

In 2026, Infinis appointed Greenvolt Next as its engineering, procurement and construction partner for two major solar parks in England and Wales. Together, the projects will add more than 110 MWp of new solar capacity to the UK electricity system.

THE PROJECT

More Than 110 MWp of Large-Scale Solar Capacity Across the UK

Greenvolt Next signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Infinis to deliver California Solar Park in Stockton-on-Tees and Gowerton Solar Park in Swansea.

Under the EPC agreement, Greenvolt Next is responsible for the complete design, technology procurement and construction of both solar parks. Infinis is developing the projects and will own and operate the sites following completion.

Construction began at California Solar Park in March 2026, with work at Gowerton Solar Park commencing shortly afterwards. Both projects are scheduled for completion in summer 2027.

The two solar parks have secured Contracts for Difference, providing long-term revenue certainty and supporting the delivery of new renewable generation capacity at scale. Both sites will also incorporate co-located battery energy storage systems, creating more flexible renewable energy assets.

Once operational, the portfolio will generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 40,000 UK homes annually.

”This is an exciting new partnership for Greenvolt Next as we expand our EPC capabilities, a key component of our business model.

THE CHALLENGE, THE SOLUTIONS AND KEY RESULTS

Delivering Large-Scale Renewable Infrastructure Across Two UK Regions

The simultaneous delivery of two large-scale solar parks presents a complex set of technical, environmental and operational requirements.

Multi-site project delivery

California Solar Park and Gowerton Solar Park are located in different regions of the UK. Delivering both projects requires coordinated design, procurement, construction and project management across England and Wales.

Complex engineering requirements

Each site has its own ground conditions, grid infrastructure, environmental considerations and construction requirements. The engineering approach must therefore be adapted to the individual characteristics of each location.

Grid integration

More than 110 MWp of new renewable generation must be safely and reliably connected to the UK electricity network, requiring close coordination with the relevant network and grid stakeholders.

Supply-chain management

Large-scale solar parks require significant quantities of photovoltaic modules, mounting structures, electrical equipment and supporting infrastructure. Procurement must be managed carefully to protect the construction schedule and maintain consistent technical standards.

Environmental stewardship

The projects must be delivered while protecting the surrounding environment and supporting biodiversity across both sites.

Programme certainty

With both solar parks scheduled for completion in summer 2027, Greenvolt Next must manage multiple construction workstreams while maintaining safety, quality and delivery standards across the portfolio.

LOOKING AHEAD

Supporting a Cleaner and More Resilient UK Energy System

Both California Solar Park and Gowerton Solar Park are scheduled to be completed in summer 2027, when Infinis will assume responsibility for the long-term operation of the sites.

The projects form an important part of Infinis’ expanding solar portfolio and will provide new domestically generated renewable electricity to the UK grid.

The Contracts for Difference secured for the projects provide long-term certainty, helping Infinis bring forward major renewable energy infrastructure while supporting the UK’s transition towards a cleaner, more flexible and secure energy system.

For Greenvolt Next, the partnership represents a major step in the continued development of its UK EPC business. It demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver complex, utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure while continuing to provide behind-the-meter energy solutions for commercial and industrial organisations.
