Greenvolt Next UK and Marq Logistics deliver rooftop solar installation for Bleckmann at Magna Park Lutterworth

Greenvolt Next UK has completed a new rooftop solar installation at Bleckmann’s distribution centre at Magna Park Lutterworth, strengthening its wider European partnership with Marq Logistics and supporting the site’s transition to lower-carbon operations.

The installation, officially inaugurated on 28 May 2026, was attended by representatives from Greenvolt Next UK, Marq Logistics and Bleckmann, alongside Alberto Costa MP, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire.

The project adds 589kWp of installed solar capacity to Bleckmann’s Magna Park premises, with 1,310 photovoltaic panels installed across the rooftop. The system has the potential to generate approximately 518MWh of renewable electricity each year, equivalent to around 20% of the site’s total energy consumption. It is also expected to avoid an estimated 235 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

Located in Leicestershire, Magna Park Lutterworth is one of the UK’s most established logistics parks. Bleckmann, a logistics specialist serving the fashion and lifestyle sectors, recently leased a major distribution centre at the site to support its expanding UK operations. The warehouse has been designed to meet high sustainability standards, achieving BREEAM Excellent accreditation and an EPC A+ rating.

For Greenvolt Next UK and Marq Logistics, the installation marks another step in a growing partnership focused on deploying rooftop solar across logistics assets. It follows the completion of a 1.2MW solar installation at Marq Logistics’ Milton Keynes site, while a further 23MW of rooftop PV projects are currently underway across 10 Marq Logistics assets in Germany.

Speaking at the inauguration, Alberto Costa MP welcomed the investment in renewable technology at Magna Park.

I welcome this investment in renewable technology by Greenvolt and Marq at the Bleckmann site,” he said. “It clearly demonstrates that we can accelerate the transition to clean energy while continuing to strengthen our logistics sector. This forward-thinking approach shows how economic growth and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. Not only will this initiative help future-proof the logistics industry, but it will also reassure my constituents that those developing Magna Park are committed to sustainability as well as prosperity.

Owen Power, CEO of Greenvolt Next UK, said rooftop solar offers major distribution centres a practical route to reducing emissions and improving energy resilience.

Rooftop solar helps major distribution centres generate more of their energy on site, reduce exposure to volatile energy prices, and cut carbon emissions without disrupting day-to-day operations,” he said. “In the UK and across Europe, businesses are accelerating the shift to decentralised renewable energy to strengthen competitiveness and resilience. Partnerships with leading logistics real estate operators such as Marq Logistics show how rooftop solar can be deployed at scale to support tenants’ net zero ambitions and the wider energy transition.

Tony Brito, Cluster Director at Bleckmann, said the solar installation supports the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its operations.

The opening of our Magna Park, Lutterworth distribution centre marked an important milestone for Bleckmann in the UK,” he said. “Integrating rooftop solar supports our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, and we are delighted to work with Marq Logistics and Greenvolt Next UK to bring more renewable electricity on site.

As logistics operators and real estate owners continue to look for ways to decarbonise large-scale warehousing, rooftop solar is becoming an increasingly important solution. For sites such as Magna Park Lutterworth, it offers a way to use available roof space to generate clean power on site, reduce grid reliance and support long-term energy resilience.
