Solar Investment by Greenvolt Group

Greenvolt Group, the global renewable energy, part of KKR’s portfolio, has committed €320 million solar investment to the UK over the next three years, targeting 1GW of renewable energy capacity by 2028. A significant €50 million will be channelled into Greenvolt Next UK, accelerating the rollout of commercial and industrial clean energy solutions.

From its Warrington headquarters, Greenvolt Next UK will deliver 500 MW of distributed generation – primarily rooftop solar on warehouses, shopping centres, and industrial facilities. By producing green power onsite, businesses can cut operating costs, reduce carbon footprints, and gain resilience against energy price volatility.

This solar investment initiative supports the UK Government’s Solar Roadmap, which aims to triple national solar PV capacity by 2030 and unlock up to 15 GW of rooftop potential on commercial buildings. For many companies, these projects offer both immediate cost savings and measurable progress towards ESG and net-zero goals.

More and more businesses are realising the potential for decentralised energy solutions to provide immediate environmental and cost benefits. This solar investment will help us bring renewable energy to more UK businesses.

Progress Already Underway

Greenvolt Next UK already has a 150 MW pipeline of projects, demonstrating clear market demand. Among the flagship installations are:

  • Weston Favell Shopping Centre in Northampton

  • Birchwood Shopping Centre in Warrington

These early projects show how retail, commercial, and industrial spaces can lead the way in decentralised energy, becoming cleaner, more cost-efficient, and more sustainable.

A Clear Signal for the Future with Solar Investment

Greenvolt’s €320 million investment sends a powerful message: the future of UK energy will be built not just through large-scale infrastructure, but also across the rooftops of the nation’s businesses.

By combining utility-scale ambition with decentralised innovation, Greenvolt is empowering the UK to take meaningful steps toward decarbonisation and giving companies the opportunity to lead the charge.

The transition is no longer just about policy or infrastructure; it’s about enabling every business to become a power producer. And with Greenvolt Next UK’s €50 million commitment, that future is now firmly within reach.
