Greenvolt Next begins Construction on 12MW Solar Farm for Voltclub

Greenvolt Next has secured an EPC contract to deliver 12MW solar farm for renewable energy developer Voltclub in Cork.

Greenvolt Next has begun construction on a new 12MW solar farm at Barryscourt, Co. Cork, after being appointed by Irish renewable energy developer Voltclub to deliver the project.

The development will see almost 20,000 solar panels installed across the site, creating 12MW of renewable generation capacity. Construction began in mid-August, with works expected to be completed by September 2027.

Under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract, Greenvolt Next will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of the projects, working alongside Voltclub, which developed the project requirements.

Voltclub, which designed the project requirements, is an Irish renewable energy developer and emerging independent power producer. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Dublin, the company develops, funds, constructs and operates renewable energy and energy storage infrastructure across Ireland.

PTSB is providing project finance for Voltclub’s Barryscourt development.

John Carty, CCO of Greenvolt Next Ireland and UK, said the project reflects growing demand for larger renewable energy developments in Ireland.

”We are delighted to work with Voltclub to deliver this 12MW solar farm development in Cork. Ireland’s energy demands continue to grow at a considerable rate and at Greenvolt Next, we are delivering projects of scale that will enable businesses and providers to meet these energy needs.

We are seeing continued demand for EPC projects and we’re proud of the confidence developers place in our ability to deliver projects with quality, speed and safety.

In 2025, Greenvolt Next said its projects reduced customer CO₂ emissions by approximately 30,000 tonnes, with a further 150,000 tonnes of reductions projected over the following three years.

A Voltclub representative said the Barryscourt development represents an important step in the company’s plans to expand renewable energy infrastructure.

”The project demonstrates our ability to take renewable energy developments from origination and consenting through financing and into construction.

Our ambition is to build a substantial portfolio of renewable generation and energy storage assets designed around the needs of Ireland’s electricity system and its large energy users. Greenvolt Next brings the technical capability and delivery experience required for projects of this scale, while PTSB’s support demonstrates the important role that Irish project finance can play in accelerating investment in new renewable infrastructure.
