- Greenvolt Group, Spectrum-R’s partner in Emerging Solar Indonesia (ESI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Himpunan Kawasan Industri Indonesia (HKI) to help decarbonize the country’s industry.
- Together, the two companies will promote the use of solar energy among the country’s companies, thus increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian industry.
- Greenvolt’s partner, ESI, will help the country’s industry in the energy transition, namely through the Energy Community concept.
Greenvolt Group, in partnership with Spectrum-R, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Himpunan Kawasan Industri Indonesia (HKI) to help Indonesian industry take concrete steps in the energy transition process. Through Emerging Solar Indonesia (ESI), they will bring renewable energy to companies, encouraging the sharing of energy obtained from solar irradiation.
One of the main initiatives will be the introduction of the Energy Community concept, an innovative energy-sharing solution already successfully implemented by the Greenvolt Group in Portugal. In this way, companies will be able to share the energy obtained from solar irradiation with each other, with benefits in environmental terms, but also financially, as a result of the reduction in their energy bills.
“Industrial parks must immediately be transformed into fourth-generation industrial parks that integrate environmentally conscious technology,” said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita at the opening of the XXIV HKI National Working Meeting. The Executive wants to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
In order to drastically reduce CO2 emissions from Indonesia’s industrial sector, which amount to more than 238 million tons a year, Indonesia intends to promote solar energy solutions, both through large solar power plants and through solutions for individual and collective self-consumption.
“We have know-how in developing renewable energy distributed generation solutions in various geographies. We are excited to be able to bring this knowledge to Indonesia, allowing companies to benefit from solar energy,” says Ricardo Mendes Ferreira, Greenvolt’s Executive Director for Distributed Generation of renewable energy.
“ESI is excited about this partnership with HKI which will enable the association’s members to gain access to renewable energy for a more sustainable future. Not only will they benefit from reducing their carbon footprint, but also from increasing the competitiveness of their investment,” says Harry Radcliffe, CEO of ESI.
Sanny Iskandar, Chairman of HKI, points out that the partnership with “ESI will be a game changer for Indonesian industry. By combining our resources and experience, we can create a more sustainable future for Indonesia’s industrial sector, while supporting the Indonesian government’s ambitious goal of achieving Net Zero through a commitment to renewable energy.”
